Camp Kayak Fish 2/3-2/6

It amazes me how great these trips always turn out. We had another cold front come through and we had a very cold couple of nights. Camping on a backcountry site again because of the weather we were well protected and we had provisions to have campfires. On this trip were Mark, Tony, Tyler and Ken a reunion of sorts of family and friend.

Even though the trout are not really affected by the cold the snook will get real lethargic and could cause a fish kill when the water temps drop the way it did which we did see some snook that died as a result. With that said everyone managed to catch fish and some nice bigger snook included. One night I made some Savichi with the trout and another night pan-fried trout to go with our dinner of homemade stew. The leftover fried fish we finished off with breakfast the next morning, Good stuff!

With the weather not being ideal, everyone still had a great time hanging around the campfire, being on the water fishing and exploring in the kayaks and of course the food. Thanks again to Vicki for preparing the chowder, chile and stew for the trip.
