We just returned from the two August EKF Special Destination Trips. The first was to the Lower Keys and the second was trip to the Marquesas Keys off Key West.
The Lower Keys trip is wonderful for couples and one that we do every August and May. I think, however, that I have eaten enough seared yellow-finned tuna and all the fresh lobster that I can take until next year.
This Marquesas Keys trip was the first one that we ever have done. This was our shake down trip. I have fished the Marquesas for many, many years, but always in a flats boat or a center console & never the kayaks. The yaks were simply superb!
The fishing was great with lots of smaller tarpon and big permit nearby. The bonefish were there, but it was tough to get them to eat. We had some overcast conditions and the bones typically saw us about the same time we saw them and away they went!
The tarpon action at sunrise and sunset is awesome!!
I will post some pictures when I get them from Capt. Hitchcock.
The trip goes like this ... Arrive in Key West, sometime during on Day One. That evening you can play and party in Key West and stay in the "bunk house" that evening. Be ready, however, we will be leaving before daybreak the next day for the Marquesas to have the yaks in the water by 8:00 am on Day Two.
We fish all that day, all that night (if you wish), all the next day & night and then through the morning of the last day. We are staying on a 43' Torres with an excellent air conditioner, clean bunks, grill, full kitchen ... you get the idea!!!
Factor in the lodging in Key West, lodging on the boat, three days/two nights of fishing, the excellent seafood dinners and the $799 for the trip is a great value!
We can do these trips most anytime in August, September and October ... If you have an interest, call us, we all want to do it again THIS YEAR!!!
