The Kayak Fishing/Camping Trips have become the favorite trip amongst all of the guides. It is a very serious time when we "toss the coin" to get to see who gets to lead these trips. The only way to work this out was to do more trips! As such we have added these "special" trips at a very "special" price!!! This trips are open to anyone who wishes to join us.
Friday, Feb 29 - Sunday, March 2 Monday, March 17 - Wednesday, March 19 March 28 - Sunday, March 30 Friday, April 4 - Sunday April 6 Saturday, April 12 - Monday April 14
We transport everything deep into the Park for a Three Day/Two Night Trip ... kayaks, camping gear, full camp kitchen, kayaks, guides and you. These trips are completely outfitted and provisioned (with excellent groceries!). Your guide will have the coffee ready in the morning before he does the omlets. You just need to bring your personal items and your tackle. Fish all day and all night if you wish or relax around the campfire ... $595 per person. (Advance reservations are required).
The Naples Fly Fishing Club, The Back Country Fly Fishers does several trips per year with us. The last was a "Trout Fest" on Jan 24. Here we target the action species ... trout, lady fish, bluefish, jack, mackeral, etc. Once this bite tapers off, we head inside for the snook, redfish and tarpon. A couple of the guys quit fishing the trout in the middle of the frenzy ... "too tired to cast anymore" from catching so many fish. The inside action was slower, of course, due to the species that we were after. However, some very nice redfish were caught as well as some snook. But the highlight had to be John's 125 lb tarpon. The fish jump 6-7 times as it took him "into the orange". I am sure that he is still smiling.
Recently, a core group from www.JacksonvilleKayakFishing.com ventured down for a bit of snook fishing. John Stewart, Gary Shankland, Blake Bleltz, Dave Justice, Jason Conner, Tim Nelson and I made up this motley crew for three days of fishing. There were a few experienced snookers and a few rookies in the group, but all caught fish. The camaraderie was great and the fishing better. The pulled pork BBQ sandwiches, adult beverages and cigars on our patio one night was topped only be the all-you-can eat stone crabs the next. I think that it was the ~80 snook that we released earlier that day really put it "over the top", however. (Dave had 20+ on fly) These guys were a pleasure to fish with. We will be planning more of these three day, four night trips in the near future, so watch their website for details. We have some great trips coming up ... Cape Sable, Biscayne Bay, South Andros Island, the Lower Keys, the Marquesas Keys, Homasassa, and the Suwanee River! Be sure to take a look at the "Special Destinations" page for some more details. The Marquesas three day "Special Destinations" trip is going to be just that. A night in Keys West, two nights on the mothership (43' and twin air conditioners!), three day guided kayak fishing for bonefish, tarpon, permit, snook and muttons. We had such a good time this year, we are planning six of these trips next year! A schedule will be post after the holidays and we will begin taking reservations in February.
Please congratulate the winners of this month's drawing for the free fishing trip!! Maria Graves (West Palm Beach) Patti Tomasetti (Miami) Ken Raney (Naples) Remember, you must register for each drawing to be eligible to win. Click here for more info on the Kayak Fishing Trips
The overnight fishing trips into the Park are some of our favorite experiences. The sunsets, sunrises, campfires, the Milky Way and the commaradarie make them special every time. We schedule at least on trip each month that is open to any who wish to join. However, if you have several of you together and want to do a private trip, please let us know and we will set a date that works. The Cape Sable/ Jurassic Park in Jan and Feb are booked full as well. However, the March 17, 18 & 19 trip is still available for four guests. (Read more about our trip last February fishing amongst crocodiles.)
The new Yak Attack 2 is in the water. Beginning in February will be doing the Yak Attack trips every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. However, as always, we put together trips whenever we can. They are too much fun to pass up. If the dates posted do not work for you, let us know and we will work out ones that do!! ... Click for Yak Attack Schedule.
